Hi Neighbor

Today, I had the chance to yell through the fence: "Hey neighbor, what are you fixing for the church picnic tomorrow?"

This might not seem like much, unless you take into account that I was raised in one of the biggest cities in the world, often didn't know my neighbors, and certainly didn't grow up in a church--much less one that held a picnic.

But, things are different now.  I live in a little country town in the Pacific Northwest,  I have a neighbor who really does go to the same church I do, and we're having a  picnic tomorrow at a place so idyllic that it actually goes by the name of Camp Turnaround.

Before I had a chance to yell though the fence today, though, my neighbor appeared at the side gate.  We visit regularly.  Earlier this summer, we put in stepping stones to connect our two yards.  I even made her a sign for her gate that reads "Linda Lane."

She informed me that she and her husband had spent the day putting up 16 pints of beans from their garden.

And she was bringing a tuna pasta salad.

Can I just say, I love my life?
