Cozy Little Cell Phone Pouch --------- Better than a kangaroo!

So, this all started because I have a black purse and a black cell phone. Every time I put the phone in the purse, it disappears into the abyss, never to be seen again, (and certainly never to be found when it rings.) My husband, (who's often on the other end of the unanswered phone,) not-so-gently suggested that maybe I should put it back in the exact same place in the purse every single time I use it.

He's cute, huh?

When I gave him The Look, he then suggested I sew a brightly colored pouch into my purse where I could always find the phone.

That was a little closer to being an actual possibility.

I ended up coming up with this idea while staring at the unending pile of gloves we have lying around the house. Keep in mind, the reason we own so many gloves is that we are always buying different colored ones at the dollar store or (new at) Goodwill for 99-cents. Naturally, this makes this a very cheap craft :)

1. So, you start by taking a cheap stretchy glove---a new one if you prefer it to be pristine, a lightly used, nubby one if you want to give it the comfy cozy look :) Then, turn the glove inside out.
2. Put the cell phone on top of the glove and eyeball the width. (No measuring, please! It's against my religion.) This works with a standard cell or an I-phone, just make sure you use the phone you want for the template.
3. Using a straight edge and a Sharpie, draw straight lines around three sides of the phone, leaving the "cuff side" open so you can pop the cell phone in it later.

4. See how beautiful it looks with all three sides drawn?! That's right, a thing of beauty is a joy forever.
5. Now, take it to the sewing machine and sew up the three sides. You'll only need one pin to hold it together. It's nice (but NOT necessary,) to find a thread that matches the glove. Use a straight stitch and go over each side at least twice because, who wants a cell phone falling out of a glove? It's best if the rectangle is tighter rather than looser--it will stretch out later.

6. Take a sharp pair of scissors and cut off all the knit fabric around the sewn edges.

7.  Turn it inside out again. Sure it looks like an ugly, little wrinkled baby sock NOW.....but when you put the phone in it, it takes a better shape.
8.  Now you can get creative!

                                                                       A closure?

                                                                   A holiday applique?

                                                           Rick-rack? Bias tape? Buttons?

I'm probably going to embroider flowers on mine.

One thing is for sure--I don't think I'm going to lose it again :)
