Tips for Better Living

I have been working and doing taxes. Ick. Sadly, this has kept me much too busy to post.
If you work at school you know that this is when the jaws of Hell open wide and you enter the worst time of the year. Everything that everyone has put off all year, suddenly becomes Priority One. Old assignments, projects, grades, grant writing and anything else you want to throw in the mix, all rear their ugly heads and demand to be taken care of immediately. (If it has ever seemed to you that your kids have an inordinate amount of homework in the month of May and/or people want you to follow through on EVERY possible parental obligations: it is not your imagination.)
In our family, May is especially insane because we add in the birthdays of Teacher Husband and Delicate Flower. I love Delicate Flower, but she was supposed to be born June 15th, yet had the nerve to arrive 6 weeks early, right before I was supposed to give finals to my students at SJSU. (I've since discovered Delicate Flower has the nerve to quietly do a lot of things I didn't expect, but I digress...)
So, that's what I've been doing lately....school work, birthday prep and taxes.
Two quick tips to make your lives easier this month:
1. If you still haven't done taxes, I swear by Turbo Tax online. (Sorry, Raul!) If it can make sense to someone like me, surely it can work for anyone.
2. If you need a sensory break, rent "Across the Universe." (Listen up, Raul!) It's a musical love story set to the sound track of Beatles songs. I know that sounds strange, but actually it's quite beautiful. I was very hypnotized--kind of like reading someone's diary. Teacher Husband remarked it was the first time he ever heard someone covering Beatles tunes that didn't ruin them. I was amazed by the vocals. Check it out.

What are you up to this Spring?

Still cleaning up poop! It, like taxes, is one of the constancies of life.

The PGA is on spring break, so perhaps when he goes back to school next week I will rent Across the Universe for one of those days when I have two hours (!)

So good to read about what's happening with you!

Love,
L'entropia
